Sagiada, Greece: Where the Road Meets the Sea

First night in Greece, first sleep at the sea’s edge. Sagiada welcomes with quiet charm, a tiny marina, and the distant silhouette of Corfu.

Sagiada doesn’t announce itself. It just appears — a small fishing village tucked between the border and the Ionian Sea. A few boats, a handful of restaurants, and a marina that feels more like a friendly dock than a port. The kind of place where time slows down, and the sea becomes your front yard.

I parked right at the edge, the waves lapping gently nearby. The village was calm, with just a few motorhomes scattered along the shoreline. In the distance, the island of Corfu rose from the sea, its silhouette a reminder of the journeys still to come.

Sagiada offered no grand attractions, no bustling crowds. Just the simple pleasure of a peaceful night by the water, the scent of salt in the air, and the soft murmur of the sea — a perfect introduction to Greece.
