R.I.P. Peter

Stasi prison August 13, 1985

Good news and bad moods.

I will see my parents on Friday.

Haven’t seen mom in 4 months.

The mood after the shift was real bad.

Anniversary of the Berlin Wall erection today.

Story time of atrocities stories and lies told by the state.

On 17 August 1962 Peter Fechter , age 18, became one of the first victims of the Berlin Wall's border guards. When trying to escape over the fences with a friend he got shot several times and was left to bleed to death for over an hour.

"No one has the intention of erecting a wall!”

Ulbricht in an international press conference.

Everybody knew what he was up to anyway.

We talk about victims.

Sharing own stories.

Mood is real dim.

One fellow sketches the death strip.

The guys who got caught are the only ones who know.

Their collected memory completes the picture and the facts.

Enforced wire mesh fences, mine fields, watch towers, bunkers, barbed wire, signal fencing, anti-vehicle trenches, nail beds, spring guns and rockets.

Peaceful country my ass!

Where will I be in 1 year?

We all wish we had those sketches months ago.
