Hungry, or not

Stasi prison April 15, 1985

7am.

I hardly slept.
My back hurts more than my empty stomach.
I leave “breakfast” untouched: old bread, jelly.

Stasi prison cell

Original Stasi prison cell as shown at the Leipzig Runde Ecke Stasi museum.

I feel like in an underwater movie.
Exhaustion from lack of sleep and hunger.
The ice cold water in the tiny sink helps a lot.

My parents will get “visitors” today.
I hope they are strong.
I know I am.

At around 8am I’m called back with Mr Schubert.
Today we start unrolling my entire life.
Every detail, all of it.

I guess they want to keep me for longer.
How long until they will tell me what they will charge me for?
I will just keep demanding to release me to the West and that is that.

Surprisingly I am not hungry at all.
And I decide to play along with THEIR script.
