10 minutes

Stasi prison June 25, 1985

Ten minutes!

That was a quick coffee break or water cooler discussion.

The “jury” came to a sentence, what a fucking big effort that was!

Especially because my state sponsored lawyer just nodded twice.

The rest of the program was scripted anyway.

Staged prosecution all the way.

“In the name of the people!”

1 year and 4 months.

I’m relieved!

Sentenced to 1 year and 4 months "in the name of the people".

The “people” will forgive me by saying: FUCK YOU!

Uneventful trip back to the cell.

My comrades congratulate me.

No detail was given on the location I will serve the sentence at.

Not much is known about the options.

I will play it by ear.

It’s over, here.

I’ll enjoy the last days with the boys.

Playing cards, worrying about my folks, dreaming.

It will keep me from thinking.

Keep me from anger.

Accepting.

Hope.

Fear.

Me.
